  • Tenders are invited for Purchase of Wind Turbine for Mechanical Engineering Department/College of Engineering. The price of the bid copy in dinars (non-refundable): 25 JOD. The deadline for submitting proposals is until two o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, corresponding to: 16/6/2021. Date of commencement of bid submission 25/05/2021 Deadline for submission of bids 17/06/2021 Deadline for inquiries about the bid 16/06/2021 Wind Turbine specifications General description A. This wind turbine is used to conduct some of experiments inside a laboratory. B. This wind turbine must be horizontal axis wind turbine. C. This wind turbine must be a computerized. D. This wind turbine must contain all these parts: Wind tunnel, fan, Hub, blades, Generator, control panel, Tower and data logger system with compatible software.  Note: Customized devices are unacceptable. The wind turbine parts and its specifications: 1. Wind tunnel and fan A. The tunnel diameter suitable with wind turbine blade length. B. The tunnel diameter not less than 400 mm. C. The tunnel length not less than 1500 mm. D. The device contains a fan that generate the air flow. E. The air maximum speed not less than 14 m/s. F. Variable fan speed operation. G. The fan speed must be controllable by control panel or by software. H. Wind speed must be measured by anemometer or pitot tube and the speed value must be displayed and stored by the wind turbine compatible software. 2. Wind turbine pitch angle A. The Pitch angle must be changeable and controllable by control panel or by software. B. The Pitch angle range at minimum must be between (-5○….30○). C. Pitch angle value must be measured, displayed and stored by the wind turbine compatible software. 3. Wind turbine blades A. Blade length not less than 150 mm. B. The blades must be changeable and installable. C. At least supplying two different sets of blades (The difference between sets must be in the blades profile). D. Each set not less than three blades. E. Blade speed or generator speed (RPM) must be controllable by control panel or by software. F. Blade speed or generator speed (RPM) value must be measured, displayed and stored by the wind turbine compatible software. G. Blade speed not less than 3500 RPM. 4. Generator A. The Generator voltage, current and RPM must be measured, displayed and stored by the wind turbine compatible software. B. The generator output power not less than 10 watts. 5. Tower and yaw mechanism A. Tower length must suitable with tunnel diameter. B. The yaw mechanism must be changeable and controllable by control panel, manually or by software. C. The yaw mechanism angle range at minimum must be between (-40○…. +40○). D. yaw mechanism value must be measured, displayed and stored by the wind turbine compatible software.  6. Data logging system and software A. Supplying device with compatible software to display, analysis and store the experiments readings. B. Wind speed, blade speed, tip speed ratio, power coefficient, generator output power (current and voltage), pitch angle, yaw angle, all these must be displayed and stored by the wind turbine compatible software. C. All measured data must be exported by the software in an Excel type spreadsheet. D. Software must be able to draw at least these curves: 1. Power coefficient (Cp) V.S Tip speed ratio curve. 2. Rotor power V.S Rotor Speed curve. 3. Rotor power V.S Wind speed curve. General requirements A. Supplying wind turbine with PC, the PC processor not less than icore 3. B. The device operation voltage and frequency must be proper to operate in Jordan according the national electrical system. C. Device must include detailed manual for experiments and this manual contains all results and curves that are produced by this wind turbine. D. Device must include service manual. E. Device must have a protection system against turbine over speed and over current. i. Experimental capabilities for wind turbine 1. Studying Power Coefficient V.S Tip Speed Ratio at different pitch angles. 2. Comparing power coefficient with theoretical limits (Betz limit). 3. Studying the relation between blade angle of attack and each of tip Speed Ratio and Power Coefficient. 4. Studying the power curve zones. 5. Explaining yaw mechanism.
