- Tenders are invited for Impact Evaluation Consultancy. The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) is a nonprofit, non-partisan, non-religious medical relief organization, with a mission to provide lifesaving healthcare services and to revitalize health systems for underprivileged Syrian refugees, internally displaced persons, and vulnerable host community members in zones of conflict and displacement. This is done by implementing an integrated model of essential services that emphasizes priority needs, including the delivery of medical education, training, and financial support to physicians and other healthcare workers in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Along with the provision of healthcare services and medical training, the SAMS Foundation also implements mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programs, as well as protections against gender-based violence (GBV). With support from the Schooner Foundation and the U.S. Department of State-s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA), SAMS- country office in Jordan is entering its third year of providing MHPSS and GBV services for Syrian refugees and host communities in need. SAMS- team of specialists provides outreach and referral services for refugees and their neighbors living outside of camps in Amman and Irbid. Current services include in-home assessments of vulnerable households to determine the most critical health, mental health, and GBV needs; referrals for beneficiaries to receive essential services; GBV referrals and case management; individual psychotherapy; medication management by a psychiatrist; GBV awareness raising; and a series of group support sessions and psychoeducation workshops which are hosted at local community centers. The topics of these workshops vary depending on the target age and gender, including emphasis on life skills, various forms of child abuse, good hygiene practices, sleep problems, emotion regulation, stress management, and adolescent well-being.
