- There has been a dramatic increase inprivate vehicle trips between Amman and Salt as the existing public transportprovides unorganized and infrequency of service to users and isunable to compete with private mobility modes. MoT has set a goal of reversingthis scenario by introducing sustainable public transit service to satisfy theincreased mobility demand between the cities of Amman and Salt. This includesevaluating different mobility modes and technology options for the proposedsystem, where the choice of which will be a result of optimized service andfinancial performance. The World Bank, supporting the MoT,is seeking to hire a consulting firm to assess the different possiblealternatives for a mass transit solution connecting Amman and Salt. The main objectives of the Study are:- Establish the baseline conditions forthe public transit system operating along and connecting to the Amman-Saltcorridor by performing the needed reviews, data collection and analysis- Performing an alternative analysis for thesustainable mass transit system alternatives at the Amman-Salt corridor andrecommending an alternative and technology to be used.- Performing a feeder system analysisfor the Amman - Salt corridor, recommending the preferred alternative.- Performing a high-level comparative financialanalysis Thefindings and conclusions of this assignment are expected to provide clarity tothe Government of Jordan on the options for mass transit solution for the AmmanSalt corridor and their advantages and disadvantages, for their decision making,in advance of a full technical and financial analysis.
